A small studio with an old soul

About Gothic Font.

A little space for making ordinary words feel a little more like you.

What is Gothic Font?

Gothic Font is a free browser-based lettering toolkit. It brings together a copyable Unicode text generator, a Gothic alphabet reference, a collection of ten real typefaces, and a canvas for creating PNG images and outlined SVGs. Each tool serves a different kind of lettering task.

The distinction matters: a Unicode character can be pasted as text, while a real font controls how ordinary letters are drawn. A downloaded PNG keeps the drawn appearance as an image; an outlined SVG preserves the letter shapes as scalable paths.

How to choose the right lettering tool

Copyable text for a bio or message

The Gothic font generator maps English letters to classic or bold Fraktur Unicode characters. Its 24 presets add spacing, bold initials, and decorative symbols; a custom editor lets you choose your own pair of ornaments. For just one uppercase or lowercase letter, open the Gothic alphabet reference.

PNG and SVG lettering for an image or title

The lettering studio renders ordinary text using actual font files and exports PNG images and SVG outlines. Choose it when you want specific letterforms, colors, spacing, outlines, shadows, or a transparent background. Choose a canvas shape, then download PNG or SVG, or copy the PNG image. The font collection lets you compare all ten typefaces with your own words first.

Fonts, sources and licenses

The typefaces are the work of their original designers. We use Latin webfont subsets distributed by Google Fonts and retain each family’s original SIL Open Font License, version 1.1. The upstream repositories contain the font files, copyright notices, and further information.

How Gothic Font handles your words

Conversion, previews, and PNG/SVG creation run in your browser. Typed text is not saved as a project or sent to an API. Saved style choices and theme preferences are local to this browser when storage is available.

Copy your result or download your image before leaving. Read the privacy and local storage notes for the details, including how to remove saved preferences.

Frequently asked questions

About Gothic Font FAQ

The tools, the type designers, and where to begin.

Did Gothic Font create the typefaces shown here?

The typefaces were created by their original designers. Gothic Font provides the generator, comparison pages, and lettering editor. The font credits link to each original project and the license distributed with its font files.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

No. The generator, alphabet reference, font previews, and PNG and SVG lettering studio are available without an account or a subscription. Interactive tools need JavaScript; the explanatory content and samples remain readable without it.

Which part of the site should I start with?

Use the generator for text to paste into a bio or message, the studio for a PNG image or scalable SVG, the alphabet for individual characters, and the font collection to compare real typefaces before making an image.
